ARIZONA or BUST

Elder Jason Hadley left the MTC on the 27th of January on his way to the mission field. He was able to call us from the airport and visit for a few minutes before his flight took off. It was SO good to hear his voice. I had already told myself I wouldn't get to talk to him until Mother's Day so needless to say I was up early just waiting for the phone to ring. He ended up having to pay $165.00 in additional fees to get his bags on the plane. He didn't have enough money on his debit card to cover it but once again (as he has shared with us at other times) the Lord was looking out for him. Before he left for the MTC a brother from the Young Single adult ward put a $100.00 bill in Jason's hand and told him he was to take it with him on his mission. He said it was to be used for "emergency money" only and when he ended up using it he wanted him to write him and share his experience. Little did we imagine that he would have need of it before he ever arrived. Along with what he had taken of his own cash he had just enough to pay. He said he was excited to get settled in with his new companion and officially start his mission.

Here is a picture taken shortly after he arrived. Elder Hadley is standing between his new mission president and his wife (President and Sister Bassett), and their five children. We received the nicest letter from them several days after he got there. President Bassett expressed his his joy in having Elder Hadley as part of the Mesa mission. He assured us that Elder Hadley would be surrounded by those who would love and support him in his efforts there.

Here is a picture (thank you Google maps) of his apartment. We're not sure exactly which one but this is what popped up when we entered the address. Too fun. :)
Anywho, (as my niece Jackie would say) we got our first letter from Arizona today. It sounds like he is doing well. His companion's name is Elder Gomez. He is from South Jordan, Utah. They are riding bicycles and he said their area is quite large. Here is the link for his missionary website:
www.dearelder.com/ElderJasonHadley I will keep it updated as we hear from him for those that would like to stay updated on his adventures and "whereabouts". His current address is also available on his website. Thank you in advance to all who take the time to write and encourage him as he serves his mission. I know how much he will appreciate having the support.

Perhaps Jason needs to switch to a driving section of his mission? Or an office part?

haha, on second thought, nix the driving. I know Jason too well...
